Candidate for VA-01

People over partisan politics

An Advocate for The People

Representation belongs to the people; it shouldn’t be reserved for the elite. What the Commonwealth of Virginia needs now is a fighter whose loyalty lies with the people and the Constitution, not with lobbyists or corporate donors. I won’t cave to pressure. I won’t be bought. I will stand up, speak out, and hold federal officials accountable.

Hi, I'm Ericka!

I’m not a politician; I’m a healthcare lawyer, a wife to a disabled combat veteran, and someone who knows what it means to fight for people. I went to law school to make a difference, and while there, I pushed for the creation of a public defenders’ office in Henrico County to bring consistently zealous legal defense to those who need it most. Today, I take on some of the toughest battles in healthcare law right here in Richmond. The place I consider home has always been in VA-01. I grew up in Glen Allen, graduated from J.R. Tucker’s Spanish Immersion Program, earned my bachelor of science degree from VCU, and went on to the University of Richmond School of Law. I’m a triple first-generation: American, college graduate, and law school graduate. I’m the first ever in my family—on either side—to become a lawyer. Every step of the way, I’ve had to break barriers, and I’m not done yet. This year lit a fire under me. From protests to town halls, I’ve seen firsthand how badly Virginians are being let down. Our current representative has traded honesty and accountability for political gamesmanship. That’s not leadership; it’s betrayal. What we need is a fighter whose loyalty lies with the people, the Constitution, and the rule of law. We need someone who doesn’t cave to the ruling class but stands up to it. That’s exactly the kind of representative I intend to be for VA-01.This isn’t just a campaign. It’s a mission. And it would be my honor to bring that fight to Washington on behalf of Virginia’s First District. I’ve spent nearly two decades on the ice as a hockey player, and my gloves are off. I’m bringing that same grit to Washington.

Positions and Policies

My number one priority is to listen to people from VA-01 about what matters to them. Outside of that, these are the topics that matter most to me:  • Campaign finance reform: ending Citizens United.  • Codifying a woman's right to choose: ending Dobbs.  • Codifying marriage equality: legislating Obergefell.  • Expanding access to healthcare by enacting universal healthcare.  • Expanding voting rights.  • Improving accessibility to government services by reducing red tape.  • Undoing the "One Big Beautiful Bill."  • Unmasking ICE and criminalizing fascist tactics.  • Supporting and expanding access for veterans to VA healthcare and benefits.  • Supporting impeachment efforts of federal officials who have abused their authority.
